How accountability works
Four layers of financial accountability
Step 1
Independent citizen oversight
A committee of local residents, independent of the school board, reviews spending to confirm it matches what voters were promised.
Step 2
Mandatory annual audits
A certified independent auditor examines every expenditure each year, verifying funds go directly to classrooms and student programs.
Step 3
Public reporting
Audit results and oversight committee findings are published and presented at open public school board meetings for anyone to review.
Step 4
Legally binding accountability
These oversight requirements are written into the measure itself. They are not optional, and cannot be waived by the district.
